If you've sent email pitches to blogs and editors but have gotten fewer responses than you'd like, the issue may lie in the email pitch that you wrote!
I got an email asking me to critique a pitch, and I put this video together because it's so much easier relaying feedback this way.
Crafting your email pitch goes beyond following a template. More and more people are learning how to use copy and paste pitches and bloggers are becoming desensitized to what used to be a good pitch a few years ago.
Watch the video for a more in-depth look at how you should write your pitches.
On to you
What's one thing you've learnt from the video?
What can you do to make your email pitches better?
So basically:
1. do your homework,
2. don’t follow a set script but customise it
3. be polite
4. be human!
This is great advice.
That’s basically it! I think the human element is really important these days because so many people are pitching the same script. You need something more to make your email stand out from the dozens or hundreds of pitches a blog can get a day.
It does also depend on how big the blog is. The smaller the blog the less pitches they get, and the more likely a copy and paste script will work.
You just want to spend a bit more time getting to know the blogger and customizing the email if they are a really big deal!
Thank you so much for this video! I’m so glad you provided an example to work with. The structure is simple yet we add that personal touch to wow the blogger.
You’re most welcome, Toni! If you ever have any specific questions, feel free to shoot me an email. I’d love to do more videos like this!
